Baza Dance Studios Inc. FAQ

GET INSPIRED. FOSTER COMMUNITY. BE INNOVATIVE. BE CARING. EMBRACE GROWTH.

1Parking & Transportation

• There is pay parking on the streets around the studio. Make sure to take enough time to find a spot when coming to class!

• We are one block away from Granville Street where you can find the bus #4, 7, 14, 16 and 50, get off on Drake St. and walk south towards Seymour St. The Canada Line - Yaletown skytrain station is also close by. Once you get out of the skytrain, walk north until you reach Seymour St. and then turn left.

2What should I wear?

Partner dance Intro Courses: wear anything you feel comfortable with and clean shoes that are not to "grippy" or slippery. • Partner Dance classes Level 2+: wear comfortable clothes that allow leg movement and dance shoes if you have any! If you don’t have dance shoes but would like to buy some, come see us at the front desk and we can give you some recommendations (or you can always ask your instructor).

• Drop-ins solo dance classes: Get ready to get a good sweat! Most classes are very active and it will be best if you bring workout clothes (and even an extra shirt!) Bringing a clean pair of shoes that are geared for dancing will help keep our floors safe and clean for all dancers. Thank you for cooperating!

3Do I need to bring a Partner?

Everyone is welcome to join all classes. About 90% of dancers in our partner dance classes register individually - everyone just simply partners up in class! Dancers switch/rotate partners during our partner dance classes, and those who register as a couple have the option to stay together or rotate (although we recommend rotating as it speeds up the learning process!).

Masks are currently not mandatory but we respect any individual's choice to wear a mask while in class.

4Do I need to pre-register?

You do not need to pre-register although we highly recommend pre-registering if you can as this speeds in the check-in process when you come for class. Don't have time to pre-register? No problem - come see us at the front desk before going into class and we'll help you out!

5What is the average age in the classes?

At the moment we only host Adult classes and have a very friendly environment where everyone is welcome can feel like home! The average age of our students is between 25-40 but we believe that when it comes to dancing... we’re all young at heart!

6I have never danced before, do you have beginner courses?

YES! We are super excited to reinstate courses for complete beginners in all of our partner dance classes (Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Zouk) beginning in May 2022. Please visit the landing page of each dance by clicking on the "Partnered" tab on the top menu and selecting the dance style of your choice to see the latest schedule and how to register.

For the extra anxious or the student who wants to get a bit of extra instruction in the basics in Salsa and/or Bachata, we have our once-a-month Get To Know (GTK) Workshops on Saturdays. Check out the latest schedule HERE.

7Do the teachers also offer private classes?

They do! Privates are the perfect tool to bring your dancing to whole new level! Send us info HERE if you would like to know more about your instructor’s availability and rates.

8Do you have trial classes so I can try out your classes?

We do not have any free trial classes. However, you can always purchase any of our DISCOVERY PASSES and experience the Baza vibe for 7 days!

9Are there showers?

10Do you host any parties?
